Sarah Gilden, QOMC’s Clinic Director, is both a licensed clinical professional counselor in the state of Maryland and a national certified counselor.
Sarah graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She worked for many years in nonprofit organizations in both fundraising and development as well as in program management. After a period of soul searching, Sarah realized she could use her passion for helping others and her interest in psychology to become a professional counselor. While earning her degree, Sarah came to work in the insurance department for Quince Orchard for over 3 years. Having graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Community Counseling in 2011 from Johns Hopkins University, she worked as a counselor for a community mental health agency in Frederick, MD for over three years.
Sarah rejoined the team at QOMC in December 2013 as Clinic Director and is excited for the opportunity to be back in a place that always felt like a home away from home. In addition, Sarah has her own private counseling practice, Outside the Box Counseling, where she continues to work with clients looking for a counselor who sees them not as a diagnosis, but as a whole person.
Sarah is an athlete who has played sports her whole life. She currently plays third base in a women’s baseball league, with which she has been affiliated for the past 10 years. She enjoys being outdoors and going hiking, bicycling and kayaking.
